BTEC Tech Award in Sport, Activity and Fitness (14 – 16 only)
The BTEC Tech Award in Sport, Activity and Fitness is equivalent in weight to ONE GCSE (120GLH) and is delivered over ONE YEAR, which makes it an excellent option for both year 10 and 11s as an internal alternative provision in school
Unit covered:
- Unit 1: Understand the Body and the Supporting Technology for Sport and Activity
- Unit 2: The Principles of Training, Nutrition and Psychology for Sport and Activity
- Unit 3: Applying the Principles of Sport and Activity
Delivery options for this qualification
Option 1 – Students attend this internal alternative provision on a period by period basis. PSA becomes integrated into the students’ school day when the timetable says ‘PSA’ they would come to use like they would any other lessons.
For example, they may attend PSA Period 1, English Period 2 & 3, back to PSA Period 4 etc
Option 2 – Students attend this internal alternative provision for a full day block (up to three days per week). Students would remain on-site so would access school break and lunch to allow the students to remain part of the school community but would be supervised fully by PSA staff throughout the day.
Both options will maximise the chances of achievement and positive progression at the end of KS4. We are happy to discuss alternative delivery options that best suit the needs of the school and the students.
Ultimately, the aim of both options is to ensure that upon completion all students that access our alternative education programmes are fully prepared re-entry into education, progression to further education or enter employment
